Donald Williams

"Pass It On"

In the city of brotherly love a child was born on the South side to be exact better know as South Philly. That child was Donald William. Donald's mom bought him an alto sax for his 10th Christmas. He started private instructions and listen to his mom's jazz collection and was introduced to the spiritual sounds of Miles, Coltrane, Ray Charles, Ahmaad Jamaal and Dave Brubeck. 

As time went on Donald's studied with Byard Lancaster, Rayburn Wright, Sam Reed, Bobby Zankel, Monette Sudler, and Leon Mitchell. He has performed in Germany, and in prisons and hospitals and churches in and out of the Philadelphia area. In 1975 Donald had his own band called "Last Nerve" a R&B band. In 1983 Donald had a band called "Just Friends." In 1995 Donald had a band called "To Be Continued" this band performed at Zanzibar Blue. Today Donald is solo. He studies theory and arrangement at The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & The Performing Arts in south Philadelphia.
